Amulet
An amulet is an object or small piece of jewelry thought to give protection against evil, danger, or disease. Most users will consecrate an amulet before using it, but others feel that consecration is not necessary. The amulet can be worn or carried. Some amulets are natural objects, such as stones. They may be modified by carving or inscribing, or used in conjunction with other amulets.
Binding
Binding spells are used to prevent someone from divulging secrets, or causing harm to others. Most binding spells involve the use of a poppet to represent the subject, although they can be done with no more than a photograph or any other relic.
Black Magick
Black magick is magic that will harm a person in some way. Curses and hexes are examples of black magick. It is magick that involves malevolent forces and destructive elements. The practice of sticking pins into wax images to bring about death or injury to a person is a typical example of black magick.

Charm
Charms are objects, such as amulets or talismans, but they are also words used in spells, chants, and incantations. People who use words as charms will repeat a word, phrase, or verse over and over again. The words may be spoken in English, Latin, or any language the person chooses.
Curse
Also referred to as a hex, a curse is used in Black Arts to bring misfortune or even death to the victim. It is a spell that is usually spoken. It may take the form of a simple statement or of an intricate chant or ritual. There must be absolute hatred to generate sufficient power to make a curse effective. A deathbed curse is supposed to be especially effective since the perpetrator literally puts every last ounce of energy into it.

Grimoire
A book of magick which includes spells and conjurations. A grimoire contains full, detailed instructions on how to create magickal tools as well as how to conjure entities. Real grimoires of the past were always handwritten by the magician/sorcerer, and frequently many parts were written in one of the "secret writings."
Image Magick
Is the use of images, such as poppets and wax figures, as representation of persons for the purpose of manipulation. Image magick can be done for positive or negative reasons. Image magick may be strengthened with the use of relics.
Incantation
It is the recitation of a spell. In the working of magick, words are power. Written words can be poweful, but spoken words are even moreso. An incantation is not a simple recitation, it is a command. Incantations are done as part of working magick, though not all magick calls for them.
Ligature
A magickal spell used to cause impotency. Ligature is also the name given to the state of impotency caused by Black Magick.
Necromancy
Raising the dead for the purpose of attaining knowledge of the future from them. The necromancer gives back life to a corpse long enough to interrogate it.
Scrying
The term "scrying" means "seeing," and is the term used for crystal gazing, but it can apply to gazing into any reflective surface for the purpose of divination.
Sympathetic Magick
Sympathetic magick is sometimes also called Imitative magick, since ritual actions imitate the real ones one wishes to bring about. There are probably more forms of sympathetic magick than any other type. It is a magick that follows the rule of "like attracts like." Thus, what is done to one thing affects another.
Talisman
An object or charm magickally charge and used to bring forth good fortune and good luck. As with the amulet, the talisman may be worn or carried, inscribed or carved.
Warding
Warding is the term used for protective magick. It is used against fascination, slander, bad luck, barrenness and sterility, disease, and a host of other maladies.
Words of Power
The words of a chant or spell can imbue the sorcerer with feelings of power and, by so doing, can help generate that power into reality. In themselves, words can be a means of emotional control over persons and events. The foundation of successful spellcasting lies in the power and mystery of "the word."
Zoomorphism
It is another word for shape-shifting by use of magickal charms, but is restricted to the ability to change back and forth between human and animal form.
